Rachel Sumner

Rachel grew up in the small town of Oundle in rural Northamptonshire, where she completed an arts foundation course at Northampton School of Art before going on to study for a BA Hons. in Fine Art at Maidstone in Kent.

Living on the North Devon coast and being by nature a collector gave rise to making the driftwood birds. The winter storms provide her with materials; summer is when she can be out in the shed making her assemblages. Other elements have started to creep in from the bottom of old tool and sewing boxes and she's been known to raid the odd skip or two!
